Visitors come to the High Desert for its unique landscape, culture, and recreational opportunities, as well as for the weather - hot and dry summers and mild winters at our high altitude. Joshua Tree and the communities surrounding the Joshua Tree National Park include Flamingo Heights, Pioneertown, Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, and Landers. You’ll be close to everything at Escondite. Some of our favorite options available to you:

–Joshua Tree National Park: 800,000 acres of mystical beauty - Joshua Tree National Park is one of the world’s most incredible natural desert treasures. Sweeping, grand in scale and populated by granite monoliths and voluptuous rock and boulder formations. This quiet land, conducive to meditation and roaming, was carved by extremes in climate - wind, rain and an ever-present, relentless sun. Diverse forms of plant life are found everywhere, but none as unique or prevalent as the park’s namesake: the Joshua tree, standing majestically across the vast topography.

–Pioneertown: Step back in time to thus rustic Old West-style village. Wander through the historic buildings, visit unique shops, catch a live music performance at Pappy & Harriets, and experience the Wild West charm.

Our group of three had a wonderful time at this house! A perfect combo of amenities, without too many distractions… the setting really helped us drop into our weekend. Great recommendation on a local massage therapist, the perfect pool at the perfect temperature, well-sourced bedding and linens, and easy to follow instructions helped us get the most out of our time in the desert. Highly recommend a stay at Escondite!

When you travel to Joshua Tree these days, so many rentals are on top of each other. This location…Not the same! :). I really enjoyed the ride onto the property and the yard and how private it was. Very quiet and had everything you needed in the kitchen. Also, the outdoor spaces were a vibe and very easy to use! I was so pleased that I shared with friends and we booked a stay for the following week! Thanks for the solid communication and ease with this booking! ???

Well, the 2nd stay was a vibe again!! This time we cooked more and entertained some friends and the grill was in full affect! We enjoyed the pool during the day before heading to JTree National Park and the hot tub that night. I also enjoyed getting to catch a proper sunrise right in the backyard while in the hot tub with a fresh cup of coffee! Try it when you rent this place…It’s a VIBE! Thanks again for great communication and allowing us to check in a bit early! Can’t wait to come back again! It’s my 2nd home now! ????

My family and I had such a great time in this beautiful home! It was not only stunning and beautifully decorated, it was comfortable and provided all the amenities we needed for a great stay. It was close to all of the major things we wanted to do in town, although you find yourself not really wanting to leave. We also appreciated the electric pool cover that helped keep our little ones safe while they were running around in the backyard. Will definitely be staying here again soon!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Escondite! It was so beautiful, homey, clean, well stocked and had everything we needed for a great weekend. It is a little off the beaten path but that ended up beating nice. The property is very private and quiet. Beautiful scenery around and great sunsets! The pool and hot tub were probably our favorite amenities. They also have 2 outdoor fireplaces that were very nice. They even had a record player with a fun selection of vinyl for our listening pleasure. The host was very communicative and responsive. We would definitely stay there again!

The place was wonderful! Very homey with all of the necessary amenities! HM provided us with a little welcoming gift as well! (Thank you!) We loved the Casita - it provided extra privacy for my partner and I and the other couple we stayed with - the clawfoot tub and floor to ceiling glass were perfect for a relaxing soak and enjoying the sunset. It was very peaceful and quiet with little surrounding light making it a great spot for stargazing. We will definitely visit again!

A wonderful home to unwind and relax. The decor, architecture and furnishings all complement the nature outside and the hot tub was a spectacular remedy for the rain and cool weather. We’d love to come back with a group of six during better weather to take advantage of all the home offers.

Escondido Guesthouse was exceptional! The design of the home is lovely and well-thought out in every regard. The owners have wonderful taste. The open kitchen was fun to cook in, while listening to albums on the turntable and some people enjoying the sunset and hot tub. The views are incredible. The beds are super comfortable and everyone got a wonderful nights' sleep. You are close to lots of restaurants and activities in this location, yet it is very private. A chic sanctuary - we will definitely be back!

I took some friends from Australia to this house to show off our Californian desert and it was the PERFECT little getaway. The place is remote enough to have privacy but also close enough to some local food spots to make things fun. The place itself was almost brand new - and normally, this would feel like a rushed flip with poor fittings and broken appliances, but the standard of this build was premium, and everything worked as intended the first time. From the EV car charger to the A/C and heater, the pool and spa, and the extremely comfortable beds. These hosts have thought of everything you might need and executed it at a level you'd aspire for your own home to be. Style-wise, it was like being in the executive suite at an Ace Hotel - but in the middle of nowhere! The staff were friendly, super responsive, and accommodating when something I caused didn't go to plan. We rarely ever revisit AirBnb's but I've already bookmarked this place for a return because we loved it that much.

Thanks Escondite: Modern Desert Hideout w Pool + Spa for such a wonderful time! We will be back if I have a chance.

This is an absolutely beautiful home. It's been fully renovated and they did not cut corners on the construction, design, or decor. The location is very private, but the house is brightly lit, open, and flows wonderfully. The furniture and decor is sleek and modern. There are numerous lounging areas large enough for a few people to sit: main bedroom, living room, outdoor fire place, outdoor fire pit. The heater/AC is very high quality, with units in every room (again, no cut corners ). Very pet friendly, with a huge plot of land for my dog to explore. I walked the fence line when I first arrived, and did not find any problems or gaps. The kitchen has brand new high quality appliances. The host was responsive and very helpful with my questions, and I had no problem with the check-in system or the locks. Pro tip for winter visitors: bring house slippers. The heaters were great, and the stone floors are gorgeous, but they stay cool all day. Would love to stay again if I get the chance

Had an incredible stay at Escondite over the holidays. The setting of the house was perfect— it felt like we were surrounded by desert, with Goat mountain rising in the distance beyond the pool and spa. There’s a fire pit some distance from the house, and two hammocks under the Joshua Trees, offering different places to relax in nature both day and night. One evening we sat in the spa and listened to two great horned owls hooting to each other. The kitchen was very well stocked with tools, making it easy to prepare a full holiday meal— there were all the pots and pans I needed, good knives, measuring cups, and a blender. Will definitely be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house; it lived up to the expectations set by the pictures. The views were impressive, and the interior design was on point – no complaints there. The owners were a pleasant surprise, going the extra mile by offering complimentary wine during our stay, adding a nice touch to our experience. The pool and jacuzzi were user-friendly, making it easy for us to relax and enjoy our time. The entire process, from check-in to check-out, was smooth, and we encountered no issues. This place offers a solid escape, and we appreciated the effort put into making it a comfortable and enjoyable stay. It's more than just a house; it's a destination that we would recommend for a effortless getaway.

Our new favorite place in the desert! We had the most fabulous and relaxing time. The home is so chic. A dream aesthetic. No detail was left unturned - every where you look is luxury. The heated hot spa was the perfect treat at the end of a long day in the park. Curled up with a bottle of wine next to the outdoor fireplace. The casita was also the perfect way to have privacy while traveling with another couple. Shout out to the incredible company managing it - we texted them a question and had a response within 15 minutes! We will definitely be back!

We absolutely loved our stay!! Absolutely beautiful and thoughtful property!! Felt like a luxurious hotel in a cool part of the desert! The landscaping is absolutely stunning and the jacuzzi at night under the stars and expansive, clear from other houses or any obstructions of the desert and mountain-in-the-horizon landscape was breathtaking!! They had everything we needed!! The hosts were extremely helpful and responsive. Every detail of the property was designed so well and such a great desert aesthetic!! Hoping to be back here soon for our next trip to the desert!! One of the best places I’ve stayed in the Joshua tree area!! Don’t forget to take a soak in the gorgeous tub in the casita - you won’t regret it!! Thank you Homestead Modern for such a beautiful weekend away with the family!

I absolutely loved my stay at Escondite. The desert setting is unbelievable - so private and vast and with Joshua trees on the property! Watching the sky change at sunset from the spa is probably my favorite experience. The house is high design and has such nice amenities and features. The beds are very comfortable, and I loved the soft Parachute robes they provided in every room. Our dogs loved the fully fenced 3 acres as well. We’ve never seen them sleep so soundly! Highly recommend this amazing property and can’t wait to return myself!

Great getaway to this modern home in the desert! Stocked kitchen with all the tools and even some vintage cast irons for cooking. Cozy reading chair and couches. Perfect temperature hot tub and pool. Super comfortable beds and lines, slept great. Even our dog loved the provided dog bed. Beautiful bathroom with sky light. Super short drive to La Copine and not much further to many other great spots like the Copper Room and Tiny Pony. Recommend and would stay again!

Absolutely LOVED our stay here! Craft fully designed with high end decor, we truly enjoyed as a family of 6 -3 couples, 2 kids and a dog. The outdoor shower has both hot and cold which was wonderfully comforting when the wind got a bit too cold. The hammocks at night provided an unreal view of the milky way! Shut the lights completely off at the house to see this. The fireplace outside by the outdoor dining is a great way to keep warm on cold nights while being able to sit together as a group and chat. We appreciated that the entire property was completely fenced off with tons of privacy that we could let him roam around freely. The host was very communicative and clear instructions were provided throughout the house and in advance of our stay that we didn't have trouble with operating anything. If you are on the fence about booking this spot, book it now! You will not regret it!

Desert Oasis
It's a sweet spot for up to 6 guests looking for a posh and chill getaway. You'll find cool bedrooms, fancy bathrooms, a swanky kitchen, and a chill living room that flows right into the outdoors. The backyard is a hot spot with a heated pool, a spa, and even a cozy propane fireplace. Plus, you're super close to Joshua Tree National Park, and Pioneertown. Wifi was good, and an EV charger was handy. Escondite was all about kicking back in the desert, making it a memorable Joshua Tree escape. We would def come here again!!
